Ricardo Matamoros, SVC., was born in Caracas on August 14th, 1959. Class of 1984 at New York University Tish School of the Arts’, he graduated with a Mayor in Film. As Director – Cinematographer, he developed a long career in the venezuelan documentary and commercial industry. His work has been recognized and internationally awarded by the National Association of Venezuelan Advertisers, ANDA, Procter & Gamble’s World-Class Copy Program, Addy Awards, Parks for Life International Film Competition, Merida’s National Film Festival, LAGOVEN Film and Documentary Film and Video Festival, Louis B Mayer Film Production Awards at NYU and London International Advertising Awards (LIAA), among others.


His in-depth cinematographic knowledge and technical experience have allowed him to collaborate in the development of image quality control laboratories and participate in projects of cinematic workflows with the aim of optimizing digital negatives for post-production processes in HDR. He offers this support for cinematographers and other members of the production pipeline as a Consultant in HDR Cinematic Design and Cinematography for HBO-LA and other independent productions in Latin America.

He is co-founder president and accredited member of the Venezuelan Society of Cinematographers, SVC., and co-founder and Life Member of the Advisory Counsel of the Federation of Latin American Cinematographers, FELAFC, which gathers the associations of cinematographers of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
